SaskPower has been made aware of another phone scam.
This time, scammers will phone SaskPower customers offering smart meters for $900. The scammer will also provide a callback number that will take customers to a menu that sounds similar to SaskPower’s.
While SaskPower is installing 20,000 smart meters at businesses in Saskatchewan, they are free of charge to customers and they do not have a smart meter for residential use as of yet.
Anyone who is receiving a smart meter would have received a letter, a message on their SaskPower bill, and an phone call from SaskPower giving them the option to opt out.
Anyone who receives a scam call, they are advised to hang up and call SaskPower immediately. Their number is 1-888-757-6937.
