Go Fund Me freezes ‘Freedom Convoy’ funds

Go Fund Me has frozen access to more than five million dollars raised by the ‘Freedom Convoy’ heading towards Ottawa protesting against vaccine mandates.

A spokesperson for Go Fund Me told the Canadian Press that the funds would be safely held until the organizer could provide the Go Fund Me team with documentation about how the funds will be appropriately distributed.

The fundraiser was started earlier this month by Tamra Lich, a member of the western separatist Maverick Party, and stated that the money would go towards fuel and food and lodgings for big-riggers taking part.

So far, over 69,000 people have donated to the convoy that passed through Regina on Monday night, with hundreds of semi-trucks and other vehicles making their way through the Queen City.

The convoy is expected to arrive in Ottawa on Saturday.
