Regina is getting artsy as it continues the Audacity Mural Project.
The project is an urban renewal initiative to amplify the walls and streets of Regina. It’s also in celebration and promotion of culture, community, and commerce in the city.
Two new murals have been completed on the walls of the Regina Chamber of Commerce and the Saigon by Night restaurant.
“Our mural allows us to showcase Regina’s creativity, innovation, and community pride,” said Tony Playter, Regina Chamber of Commerce CEO.
“Partnering with Economic Development Regina illustrates our commitment to inclusivity, and we are thrilled that our mural connects business and community.”
Saigon by Night donated their wall to the project because they want to showcase a design that represents the spirit of newcomers.
Their mural is called Ardent Dawn designed by Josh Goff. The mural contains symbols of Vietnam that helps newcomers feel at home.
“The Vietnamese dragon is the symbol of yang, representing life, existence, and growth,” said Goff.
“Commitment and optimism for the future is present in the lotus flower, and bravery, confidence, and leadership in the tiger.”
The Audacity Mural Project is aiming to put up 25 different murals around the city. So far, five murals have been completed.
People can recommend artists or donate a wall of their business to the project by visiting the project’s website.
