The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine will be available for children six months up to four years old later this week.
The Government announced that families could receive the vaccine option starting Wednesday at booked vaccination appointments and walk-in clinics.
Pfizer’s availability comes after Moderna’s vaccine for children six months to five years has been available since July.
Children six months up to four years old for the Pfizer vaccine are currently eligible for three doses as the approved primary dose series. Children six months up to five years old for the Moderna vaccine are qualified for two doses as the approved primary dose series.
The Government said that if a child under five years has had COVID-19, they should receive the dose they are eligible for eight weeks following infection.
They also said that while pharmacies throughout the province are currently administering COVID-19 vaccinations, including bivalent boosters, they cannot administer vaccines to children under five years.
