It was another cold morning for much of Saskatchewan on Friday.
Numerous records were broken, including in Val Marie, where the mercury dropped to -27 C, breaking the record of -14 C set back in 2002, and making the community the Canadian cold spot for most of the morning Friday.
Environment Canada’s Terri Lang said even though above zero temperatures are in the forecast for next week, it may not climb back to what’s expected and snow may be in the forecast as well.
“It does look like we are going to start warming up but only slightly,” Lang said. ‘That won’t be probably until the middle of next week, we’re also going to get some precipitation and that looks like it will be in the form of snow,” Lang also said.
Records were also broken in Assiniboia, Coronach, Eastend, Elbow, Estevan, Lucky Lake, Maple Creek, the Battlefords, Rosetown, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw.
Regina did not break at record but dropped to minus 16 early this morning.
The normal overnight low in the Queen City this time of year is about -3 C.
