The provincial opposition leader says special needs students in Saskatchewan are being hurt the most by a lack of support from the Scott Moe Government.
Ryan Meili gave the province a failing grade while speaking in front of St. Micheal Community School in Saskatoon.
The NDP leader claims while enrollment across the province has grown by about 10-thousand students in the past five years support has fallen dramatically.
He accuses Moe of failing to live up to a leadership campaign promise by delivering just over 10-percent of the 400 new educational assistants pledged during the campaign.
Meili also referred to the elimination of 15 English as an Additional Language teaching positions in the Saskatoon Public District while pointing to an eight percent drop in those positions.
He says students needing that type of instruction increased by 10 percent and kids requiring frequent intensive supports grew by 13 percent.
Meili feels putting more money into education will mean future savings in health, social service and corrections costs.
