Regina’s Board of Police Commissioners gathered once again for a public information night, allowing residents to ask the commission questions and raise concerns.
This information night gave the subdivision of Westhill a chance to meet with the commission.
Police Chief Evan Bray said they had another round of good discussions.
“We talked a lot about the quality of life crime,” he said. “People having theft from their vehicles, break and enters to sheds and garages, speeding and loud cars.”
“We talked a little about strategies that we employ to try and handle some of those challenges, and we got some good feedback from people in the room about what else they would like to see done and how they can get involved,” he continued.
Bray said overall, the information nights have been beneficial.
“We are hearing some very consistent themes and messages in each one of these, and it gives us a chance to connect with citizens in the city,” he said. “They can put a face to our board of police commissioners, they get some face time with myself and other executives from our police service, and we can talk about challenges in their neighbourhood.”
From here, Bray explained how they would be using the information.
“From the police service standpoint, we have an officer taking some notes and following up on a couple of specific files,” Bray said. “Our Board of Police Commissioners heard some great suggestions that they will be taking back and will look to put in action.”
The next public information night will be held in two weeks on November 21 at the École Harbour Landing Elementary School from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
