Saskatchewan farm leaders welcome Ottawa’s new $1.75-billion fund for expanding and improving rural internet service.
The federal government is expecting to service 98 percent of Canadians with high speed broadband service by the year 2026.
SARM president Ray Orb says improved internet service is extremely important for farmers and rural businesses.
He says it should be considered an essential service.
Agriculture Minister David Marit also welcomes the federal support for high speed rural broadband service.
Marit says SaskTel has built hundreds of cell phone towers and continues to expand service and the federal program is welcome.
