A Court of King’s Bench Judge has convicted Dillion Whitehawk of second-degree murder.
Whitehawk was originally charged with first-degree murder in connection to the death of Keesha Bitternose.
It was back on January 2, 2020, that Keesha Bitternose died from multiple injuries and a possible gunshot wound. She was found dead days later by police in a home on Cameron Street.
The judge decided there was not enough evidence to prove Whitehawk was guilty of a planned, deliberate killing, so he was convicted of second-degree murder.
Whitehawk becomes the third person to be convicted in connection with Bitternose’s murder.
A man had pleaded guilty to manslaughter in November of 2021, receiving an 18-year prison. The second individual, a woman, also pleaded guilty to manslaughter, receiving a seven-year sentence.
Whitehawk will be back in court on February 28 for sentencing submissions. The minimum sentence for second-degree murder is life in prison, with no parole for ten years.
Whitehawk is already serving two life sentences for first-degree murder in relation to the 2019 deaths of Keenan Toto and Jordan Denton.
He was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years earlier this year in June.
