The federal government has announced more than $4.3-million to support the pulse and special crop industry.
Pulse Canada will receive more than $2.7-million of the funds.
The chair of Pulse Canada, Corey Loessin says the funds will go to several market development projects.
He says part of the funds will go to improving sales of value-added protein products made from pulses.
Other market development plans include using pulse crops in the pet food industry.
Loessin says Pulse Canada has a goal of moving 25 percent of pulse crop production into new markets by the year 2025.
Other portions of the federal funds will go to the Ag Transport Coalition to monitor railway transportation performance.
