SaskTel announced a 50 million dollar investment into bringing rural fibre high speed internet into 30 thousand businesses and households in rural Saskatchewan.
Spokesperson Greg Jacobs says the COVID-19 pandemic has displayed a real need for high speed internet, especially in rural areas of the province.
“Being able to upgrade our infrastructure in some of these rural communities, is elevating the level of connectivity that our customers have further out into rural communities,” said Jacobs. “It gives them better access to things like remote healthcare, distanced education, and really just a better platform to connect with business opportunities, whether they’re local or abroad.”
The first four communities that will see this expanded service are Balgonie, Biggar, Langham and Pilot Butte.
