Agriculture Minister says rising federal carbon tax will cost Sask. $300-million

Agriculture Minister David Marit says the Trudeau government’s revamped carbon tax will cost Saskatchewan $300-million a year.

The $30 a ton tax will rise to $50 in two years and then jump $15 a ton a year to reach $170 by 2030.

Marit says the rising carbon tax will have a significant impact on farmers.

He says the cost will reach $300-million a year to Saskatchewan when the tax is fully implemented.

Marit says the carbon tax will push up moving goods into the province and exporting farm products to the world.
