The time of being spoiled by above seasonal conditions in the province is coming to an end.
The Northern part of the province saw substantial snowfall overnight.
“19 cm fell around Southend, with 10 to 15 cm falling around Buffalo Narrows, and the La Ronge region,” says Environment Canada Meteorologist Terri Lang.
A sudden shift in temperature is expected to occur in Saskatchewan over the next few days.
In Regina, daytime highs are expected to be in the minus teens for the foreseeable future.
Wednesday and Thursday will see wind chill values in the Queen city dipping close to -40 C.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Terri Lang says it’s important to remember to dress properly during dangerously low temperatures.
“It’s really important that you dress in layers. That traps air between the layers – which keeps you warm. Cover-up exposed skin so that you don’t get frost bite and limit your time outdoors when the wind chill is high – there is a risk of hypothermia setting in.”
