Several events are being held across Regina today in honour of Canada’s first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Cowessess First Nation Chief Cadmus Delorme is glad to see this day come around and has some advice for people who want to learn and be educated on the mistreatment of indigenous peoples.
“People should come with their shield down ready to learn open-minded.” Delorme said. “For survivors and indigenous people, they need to be proud of who they are. There is hope that change is coming and change is now. It is days like today that allow all of us to open our minds and to reset our compass and once truth comes, reconciliation will prevail.”
He says this is a day to reset the compass a little and recognize the role that indigenous people play in our society.
Several events are happening in Regina on Thursday including a noon-hour event at City Square Plaza put on by Circle Project
