The Saskatchewan NDP says Saskatchewan is losing people to other provinces at a high rate.
Leader Carla Beck notes hundreds of health care workers have left Saskatchewan in the last year for other provinces, and it needs to stop.
“Anyone who grew up here knows that Saskatchewan has the potential to be the best place to live and work in Canada,” said Beck. “Yet with Scott Moe at the wheel, new families and immigrant workers like doctors or tradespeople are leaving. The Sask. Party is not giving our newest neighbours the tools they need to put down roots and stay in our great province.”
Beck was joined by Immigration and Economy Critic Aleana Young, and several young immigrants to Saskatchewan who said inadequate access to healthcare and a lack of jobs in their fields of study were significant barriers to staying in Saskatchewan.
Beck says the Scott Moe government needs to have a plan to retain immigrants who move to Saskatchewan, and keep those skills working in this province.
