RCMP made 11 arrests at Country Thunder Saskatchewan on Friday, bringing the total for the week so far to 24.
Ten were alcohol related, and one was for a man with an outstanding warrant for an offence committed.
Police are also concerned with the amount of minors consuming alcohol at the festival, and want to remind everyone that it is illegal for anyone under the age of 19 to be drinking alcohol including on their campsite.
“So we’re going to be out there enforcing that zero tolerance policy again and checking I.D’s,” said RCMP Staff Sergeant Devin Pugh. “We have laid some charges in regards to minors consuming alcohol, so just remember if you’re not 19 it is illegal for you to consume alcohol,” Pugh added.
Seventy-five traffic tickets were handed out on Friday, along with 122 warnings.
Pugh said they also nabbed two impaired drivers.
“We did come across two impaired drivers, one just off the festival site, the other was on Highway 11,” he said. “So again we have lots of safe rides home, there’s no reason or excuse to drive impaired, we have the SGI Safe Buses and taxis, please make sure you’re driving safe,” said Pugh.
All in all Pugh said so far they’re pleased with people’s behavior, saying so far most have been cooperative and respectful.
Tim McGraw will close out Saturday night with his headline performance on the main stage at 10:30 p.m.
