It’s going to be a frigid weekend across Saskatchewan.
Environment Canada has issued Extreme Cold Warnings for pretty much all of Saskatchewan, including Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Moose Jaw.
In fact, the only jurisdiction not facing extreme cold warnings is the far southwest corner of the province, including Maple Creek, Cypress Hills, and Shaunavon.
Wind Chills sub -40°C are expected Friday night, and expected to remain in place until at least Sunday morning.
Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.
Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.
Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant.
If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
Extreme Cold Warnings are issued in central and southern Saskatchewan when the temperature or wind chill is expected to reach -40°C for at least two hours.
