The clean-up was on in several Saskatchewan communities over the weekend after a series of storms blew through both Saturday and Sunday night.
While what happened in Eston on Sunday is officially being classified as a plough wind, Environment Canada says there have been 11 confirmed tornadoes this season which is just below the 30-year average of 14.
Environment Canada’s Robyn Dyck says July is the most active month for tornadoes in Saskatchewan, and that while it may appear as if we have seen a lot in the first two weeks of the month, that last year Saskatchewan saw 20.
Dyck says conditions have been right for tornadoes to develop and that while the threat should ease off once August comes, that we can still see tornadoes in August and September.
She adds the public can help Environment Canada out by putting videos up on social media with the hashtag #skstorm or to e-mail them at skstorm@canada.ca.
