It continues to be c-c-c-cold in Saskatchewan as the polar vortex that has been hovering above us for days continues as we remain under an extreme cold warning.
Environment Canada says 17 places in Saskatchewan broke the record for the coldest February 13 on record with the provincial cold spot being in Nipawin where it got down to minus 43.9 Celsius which broke an 85-year-old record.
Some of the other places in Saskatchewan breaking records include Broadview (-41.4), Hudson Bay (-41.9). Indian Head ( -41.1). Melfort ( -41.7), Watrous ( -41.5) and Yorkton (-39.2)
Another extremely cold night is set to happen on Sunday as with the windchill, it will be between -40 and -50 across most of Saskatchewan. The arctic ridge of high pressure that has been hanging over Saskatchewan is slowly pushing east with warmer weather in the forecast. The high on Monday is forecast to be minus 18 with the low being a much more comfortable -24. Next weekend is calling for temperatures to be in the single minus digits.
