Premier Scott Moe has announced record revenue sharing with Saskatchewan’s 296 rural municipalities.
Moe told SARM delegates in Saskatoon almost 298 million dollars will be shared with rural municipalities this year, up 13 percent from the previous year.
He says it is a jump of 36 million dollars from the previous year.
Premier Moe adds the Targeted Sector Support Initiative will once again receive a 1.5 million investment from the revenue sharing program.
The Targeted Initiative is co-managed by the provincial government and municipal partners, investing in projects that advance shared priority areas such as good governance, regional planning, and inter-community collaboration.
Moe says the municipal revenue sharing program is based on three quarters of one point of the provincial sales tax collected from two years ago.
There are 296 rural municipalities across Saskatchewan.
