SARM president Ray Orb says record provincial revenue sharing funds will be put to good use.
Premier Scott Moe says rural municipalities will receive a record 298 million dollars in revenue sharing, up 13 percent or 36 million dollars from the previous year.
Orb says rural municipalities are pleased with an increase, saying RM’s are always looking for more funding with many projects underway.
Orb also welcomes additional support to encourage more doctors to practice in rural Saskatchewan.
The province is increase the bonus paid to doctors who work in rural areas from 47 thousand dollars to 200 thousand dollars over five years.
Orb says a shortage of rural health care workers has been a major topic at this week’s annual SARM convention in Saskatoon.
The 3-day annual SARM meeting wrapped up Thursday.
