Many people outside of Regina and Saskatoon have been wondering when and how they will be getting their first vaccine shot saying they have heard nothing from the provincial government on the matter,
The Saskatchewan Health Authority is trying to ease that confusion.
In a statement, the SHA says we are still in phase one of the vaccination campaign. After those who are in community, long-term care and personal care homes along with certain prioritized healthcare workers have been taken care off, the campaign will then move into establishing clinics for people aged 70 and over starting with the oldest first.
The SHA is using contact lists as generated by EHealth in which people are identified by their location and age. That list is created from information on your Saskatchewan health card, vital statistics date and other client information systems EHealth has in place.
Individuals are being contacted by phone based on their age until all available appointments at the established clinic have been filled with priority sequence being maintained.
The SHA says appointment availability is driven by vaccine availability and at this time, no clinic is able to received enough vaccine to immunize all who are eligible. The SHA adds it is important to recognize demand for vaccine is far outweighing the current available supply.
It is also being recommended that you make sure all your current information for your health card is correct after a renewal process last year. If you aren’t sure if your contact information is correct, you can go to the Ehealth website or call 1-800-667-7551.
