ILTA Grain has had its licenses re-instated by the Canadian Grain Commission but with the condition that the company refrain from purchasing grain from producers.
ILTA’s licenses were suspended last month when the pulse crop processor filed for creditor protection in British Columbia.
The Grain Commission reinstated ILTA’s licence following the creation of a special escrow account to be held by PricewaterhouseCoopers, the court appointed monitor.
Producers who were not paid for grain deliveries to ILTA may be compensated from this account.
The Grain Commission indicates it has heard from more than 200 producers who have not been paid by ILTA.
A final audit is being completed to establish the number and amount of eligible claims.
Each producer will be sent a completed claim form to sign and return to the Commission as soon as possible.
The claims process cannot move ahead without a signed claim form.
ILTA has several locations in Saskatchewan, including Belle Plaine, Swift Current, Saskatoon, Cutknife and North Battleford.
