It’s that time of year when Canadians from coast to coast to coast get ready to watch the best of the best in men’s and women’s curling. Over the past several years the sport has seen a major resurgence in popularity thanks to a new generation of curlers and Canada’s dominance in the sport.
The Scotties Tournament of Hearts is set for February 14th to 23rd in Thunder Bay, ON and will feature 18 teams from across the country including the foursome from Saskatchewan made up of skip Nancy Martin, 3rd Chaelynn Stewart, 2nd Kadriana Lott, Lead Deanna Doig, and alternate Colleen Ackerman. The team is coached by Sherry Anderson. There will be three teams from Manitoba in the Scotties this year including Kaitlyn Lawes and two teams from Alberta. Rachel Homen’s foursome will represent team Canada this year and will be coached by legendary curler Jennifer Jones.
As for the Montana’s Brier, two teams will be representing Saskatchewan in the men’s championship. The Mike McEwen foursome is looking for redemption this year after falling to the Brad Gushue rink in Regina last year. McEwen skipped Saskatchewan all the way to the final and nearly captured the province’s first Brier title since Rick Folk in 1980. As for Gushue and Team Canada, they’re looking to capture their fourth straight Brier title. Saskatchewan will also be represented by the Rylan Kleiter foursome from Saskatoon which will mark their first time competing in the Montana’s Brier. The men’s championship will be February 28th to March 9th in Kelowna, BC.

A reminder to grab your tickets for the BKT Tires World Men’s Curling Championship in Moose Jaw this spring. 13 teams from across the globe will arrive in Moose Jaw for a chance to earn Olympic qualification points for the winter games in Italy in 2026.
