I remember when Quebec was prepared to break away from Canada. It didn’t happen. I realize that there is a vocal representation of people that say, “Go Ahead”. But I like our country working together as one unit. Each province is unique and has different qualities that cannot be overlooked. Coastal beauty on three sides, prairie lands that offer sweeping horizons and amazing sunrise and sunset moments. Fishing lakes and rugged terrain where you don’t think it exists. People that will do whatever they can to help strangers and their next door neighbours but don’t take them for granted because they will also fight for what they believe is right. Truly we have our opinions on what is right or wrong in the country, that’s free speech. Yes, there is crime but there are also opportunities and positive things happening every day.
Canada is pulling together as we face hostility and taunting from our neighbours. Who wants that kind of headache? But we aren’t moving out of the neigbourhood nor are we giving up any of the garden or lawn space we have in our yard.
Tim Thompson has come up with an emotional look at what Canadian orators, athletes, musicians, activists, actors and everyday men and women have said, through the years. Unbeknownst to me, Thompson is responsible for some of the most iconic montages of sporting events you’ve watched for years. As a former athlete, he has an eye for those moments you never want to forget.
