The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit North is changing a missing person’s case to a homicide investigation.
Police say 25 year old Tiki Laverdiere was in the North Battleford and Thunderchild First Nation areas on April 27th for a funeral. Afterwards she expressed interest in going back to Edmonton.
Laverdiere was last seen on May 1st in North Battleford and that’s the last time she made contact with her family.
Officers are trying to figure out how she would have left North Battleford because she had no mode of transportation. Investigators are concerned that Laverdiere may have tried to hitchhike to Edmonton.
RCMP believe the disappearance is the result of foul play. Police say over the past few days officers executed search warrants in multiple North Battleford locations and are now reviewing the information.
Police say the investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
Laverdiere is described as being 5’4″ and approximately 140lbs. She has burgundy hair and typically wears grey contact lenses. She has small tattoos on her neck and eyebrow and nose piercings. At the time of her disappearance, she may have been carrying a Louis Vuitton handbag and had been seen wearing bright white shoes and a black jacket/pants with unique red and white stripes. Police say she also walks with a slight impediment.
