Despite cool wet weather, Saskatchewan farmers made some progress on harvesting the 2019 crop.
Provincial crops analyst Cory Jacob says combining is 6 percent complete, up from 2 percent last week but behind the average of 16 percent for this date.
He says farmers are looking for warm, dry conditions.
He says hail and strong winds were the main causes of crop loss this past week.
Jacob says harvest ranges from 12 percent in the south to less than 1 percent in the northwest part of the grainbelt.
Harvest is expected to be in full swing as crops mature in the next few weeks.
Rainfall ranged from a trace to 130 millimeters near Lipton, about 90 kilometers northeast of Regina.
Topsoil moisture is rated 7 percent surplus, 78 percent adequate, 12 percent short and 3 percent very short.
