After a firearm threat, a man is facing multiple charges.
On Tuesday, April 18, at roughly 6 p.m., Communications Officers received a call from a man who said he had just been threatened with a firearm while trying to tow his vehicle in the 800 block of Edgar Street.
The male suspect along with another man and woman then got into a vehicle and fled the scene.
During the investigation, police were led to a residence on the 3800 block of Regina Avenue.
Just before 1 a.m., Patrol Officers, plainclothes investigators, and members of the canine unit arrived at the scene where the suspect initially refused to exit the residence.
From there, the RPS Negotiation team and SWAT Team were called to assist.
Nearly six hours later at roughly 7 a.m. on the following Wednesday, the suspect exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
During the investigation, a nearby high school was placed in Secure the Building mode.
As a result, 34-year-old William Bitternose is charged with Assault with a Weapon, Use of an Imitation Firearm in the Commission of an Offense, and Breach of Probation.
Bitternose is making his first court appearance in Regina on April 20.
