Canadian farmers intend to plant more wheat, canola and barley this spring while area seeded to oats and lentils will decline.
Statistics Canada says Saskatchewan farmers anticipate planting 7.3 percent more wheat this year at 14.2 million acres.
Spring wheat will jump 10 percent to 9.2 million acres while durum will jump almost 3 percent to 5 million acress.
Canola in Saskatchewan will rise 3.7 percent to 11.8 million acres.
Barley acreage in Saskatchewan will drop 4.7 percent to 2.6 million acres but rise 7 percent in Alberta.
Oats will fall 22 percent to 3.1 million acres this spring.
Area seeded to lentils will drop 7.7 percent from last year in Saskatchewan to 3.5 million acres.
The survey included 95-hundred farmers in early January.
