Whether you are visiting the city or checking other Regina attractions, you don’t want to miss the home of the RCMP. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police Academy, Depot Division and the RCMP Heritage Centre offer unique events such as the Sunset Ceremony. A colourful event that includes a foot-drill display, a cannon drill and the ceremonial lowering of the Canadian flag to the playing of Retreat. The ceremony is held on Tuesdays July 1st to the 22nd at the Heritage Centre entrance, 5907 Dewdney Avenue. Gates open at 5:30 pm and the events start at 6 pm. All Depot Sunset Ceremonies are free of charge. And you might want to bring a lawn chair.
On July 1st, Canada Day celebrations begin at 2pm and continue until 5, also free on this date. A must is going to the gift shop, so bring your cash or tap. The RCMP Heritage Centre will help with your Canadian Pride through books, t-shirts and hoodies, magnets, coffee and other niknaks.
Sam Karikas, Chief Executive Officer joined Good Morning Saskatchewan to give us details on visiting the RCMP Heritage Centre this Canada Day and through the summer.
