For a second year, the Big Flat Folk Fest will be serenading music fans of southwest Saskatchewan. After a successful first year, organizers and volunteers will bring back the festival this summer to Eastend with performances from Corb Lund, Jake Vaadeland and the Sturgeon Rover Boys, Kyle McKearney, The Last Birds, Willy Tea Taylor, Bryce Lewis, and more.
“Last year was our first. It was just a one day event with Colter Wall headlining, so this is our second one and we’re a two day event, so it’s slowly growing and a new one to the scene,” stated organizer Katherine Ruschensky.
The festival is more than just music, it’s also a place for small business and local artisans to sell their items in the market, plus the Eastend Kinette Club will be organizing a kid zone with shade to keep the little ones cool.
“Our artisan market is featuring a lot of our local artists. There are a lot of artists that make their home here and we have a glass blower in town now, so we’ll be doing some of that Saturday morning,” explained Ruschensky. “We’re doing an “art in the park” where people can actually makes some of their own artwork as well.”
The festival takes place July 11th and 12th with both one-day and two-day tickets available to music fans.
