With this run of warmer than average weather to finish April and open May the risk of wildfires is much higher.
People living in the northern community of La Loche have been told they need to leave because of an approaching wildfire.
According to the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, people in La Loche will be transported to Regina. Everyone in that community should register at the community hall or the elementary school before leaving.
This follows on the heels of a mandatory evacuation of the nearby Clearwater River Dene First Nation ordered yesterday by the SPSA. The people from the Clearwater River Dene First Nation went to Meadow Lake and Lloydminster.
North of the Battlefords, the Moosomin First Nation is under threat by a wildfire. In this case the people living there, and on the Saulteaux First Nation have been told to have valuables, and medicines on hand in case they too have to leave the area.
Temperatures across Saskatchewan have been warmer than average for this time of year, but the temperatures should cool a little this weekend.
As a new weather system comes in it may bring some clouds and perhaps some much needed rain, but it will also mean increased winds which could fan the flames already burning.
