The Canadian Crop Hail Association says hail losses so far across Western Canada are much lower this year compared to past years, but they have been significant.
It says member companies are looking into 284 crop damage claims from storms that hit the west between July 27th and August 2nd.
Saskatchewan Municipal Hail Insurance says significant crop losses were reported in the Mankota area after a July 19th storm, in which hail completely destroyed fields.
However, the majority of claims were filed in Alberta, where a large storm hit near Cardston July 27th.
