A 28-year-old Regina man is facing a number of charges relating to identity theft after stealing pieces of identification from over 130 individuals.
An investigation from police uncovered a large amount of IDs, cheques and other personal documents belonging to 131 people.
Of the 131, 40 individuals had multiple pieces of identification stolen from them. Police charged Justin Theodore Pelletier with 40 counts of identity theft and one charge of possession of identification documents.
He was previously charged with possession of a weapon, breach of probation, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of break-in instruments back in August during his initial arrest.
The investigation stemmed from an incident that occurred on August 18. Officers were sent to a parked vehicle in the 1100 block of Devonshire Drive that was still running while the driver was passed out in the front seat. Police identified the individual and arrested Pelletier.
Following a search of the vehicle, officers discovered numerous break and enter tools, pairs of gloves, different house keys and a balaclava. A recovered computer bag was found containing ID cards, drivers licenses, passports, cheques and other personal documents not belonging to the suspect.
Pelletier arrived at provincial court on these new charges this past Monday.
