STRATHCONA COUNTY, Alta. – Alberta RCMP Major Crimes investigators are appealing to the public again for help locating a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in connection with a 2018 homicide.
Christian Nyabirunga, 35, is wanted for first-degree murder, kidnapping, and aggravated assault in relation to the death of 33-year-old Aldane Mesquita, who was killed on Sept. 13, 2018.
Nyabirungu has ties to North Battleford, Sask., Edmonton, Alta., Toronto, Ont., and has family in Montreal, Quebec.
RCMP say despite multiple public appeals over the years, Nyabirunga remains at large.
Nyabirungu is one of seven people charged in Mesquita’s death. His body was found in September 2018 in a rural industrial area east of Edmonton in Strathcona County.

According to Mesquita’s obituary, he left behind a wife and son.
“Dale loved cars, sports, music and cooking. He will be missed by many including his large family of aunts, uncles and cousins,” reads his obituary. “Dale was a proud father who enjoyed travelling, making memories on the beach, reading and going to Chuck E. Cheese with Leo.”
RCMP say Nyabirungu may have since changed his appearance but he has black skin, is 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
Nyabirungu is dangerous and should not be approached by the public.
