CANORA – A Canora man is facing criminal charges following an investigation by RCMP into a case of carbon monoxide poisoning that left a teenage employee requiring extensive medical care.
On Aug. 28, Kyle Kaiser of Canora was charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm. The charge stems from an incident that occurred on Oct. 23, 2023, but wasn’t reported to police until months later.
According to Canora RCMP, their investigation started on May 3, 2024, after they got a report about the poisoning of a minor at their place of work, a business on Norway Road.
Police say that a 14-year-old employee was asked by a person in authority to use a gas-powered device that was designed for outdoor use.
The youth was taken to hospitals in Canora and then to Alberta for medical care related to the exposure to carbon monoxide.
Kaiser was arrested and released. He is scheduled to appear in Canora court on Oct. 2.
