Last week I got a call from my doctor’s office informing me that my physical, which was scheduled in a couple of weeks, would have to be rebooked for a later date. Then she told me that my doctor would be calling me in person to see if I was fine and had any questions.
Yesterday morning after I got home from work I received that call. We didn’t chat about much. I’m guessing he had a few more calls to make that day. I did tell him that I needed my prescriptions filled again. I heard him typing on his keypad for less than half a minute before he told me it was taken care of. Usually to get that done I have to sit around the waiting area in his clinic for an hour and a half.
Last week I needed a prescription filled for my cat, who’s been on kidney medication for quite a while now. He’s doing well, but the vet told me he would have to take that for the rest of his days.
His prescription ran out, which means, in normal times, I would have had to take him to the animal clinic where I would have had to sit around for an hour or so before the vet ran the usual tests and did some bloodwork. That makes for a long afternoon and a hefty bill.
However, the vet automatically renewed his prescription without a visit. All I had to do was pay for the medicine over the phone, drive over to the clinic, and wait for the receptionist to come to the door with the Charlie’s prescription. It was all too easy.
With all of the social distancing and self isolation going on, businesses are adapting, and I must admit, I do like some of the new policies!
