COVID-19 affects collection of on-farm used oil and anti-freeze for recycling

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on several aspects of the farming community across Saskatchewan.

One area is recycling used oil and antifreeze.

Ethan Richardson is the executive director of Saskatchewan Resource Recovery.

He said almost 180 public drop off locations are run by independent businesses and may not be taking product right now.

Farmers are asked to call ahead to see if the recycling site is open for collection of used oil and anti-freeze.

Richardson asks farmers to safely store their small amounts of used oil and antifreeze until it can be recycled properly.

He says those with on-farm tanks can be pumped out by recyclers during the pandemic.
