REGINA – Two local youths are in custody following an armed robbery on Argyle Street Monday morning. Regina Police Service had responded to the 100 block of Argyle Street for a report of a weapons offence involving a machete.
Police say initial reports indicated a suspect armed with a machete had robbed a victim him of his cell phone and backpack.
When officers arrived, they learned the victim was walking in the area when he was approached by an unknown male wielding what appeared to be a machete. The suspect demanded the victim’s belongings. The victim complied, and the suspect fled the scene in a waiting vehicle.
Approximately 15 minutes later, police located the suspects in the 400 block of Albert Street and arrested them.
Two youths, aged 16 and 17, who can’t be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are charged with robbery.
They appeared in Regina Provincial Youth Court on Sept. 16.
