Justin Trudeau says making sure vital equipment moves both ways across the border is a major concern during the pandemic.
During his daily update on the COVID-19 crisis, the Prime Minister was asked about the White House ordering 3-M to cease exports of masks and respirators to Canada.
“3-M has indicated that it understands how important it is to continue with delivering on orders to places like Canada, there is much trade that goes back and forth in essential services and it could end up hurting Americans as much as everyone else,” Trudeau said.
The Prime Minister also said officials have spoken with their American counterparts, and says the message is getting through.
He was also asked if Canada is planing any retaliatory actions.
“We are discussing with the United States the very importance of keeping the flow of essential goods and services across our border to help both of our countries, I am confident our close and deep relationship between Canada and the U.S. can continue and we will not have to see interruptions in either direction,” said Trudeau.
