ESTEVAN — One of two people charged in connection with a drug bust in Estevan in early September has received bail.
Krista Mae Grulich had a show-cause hearing in Estevan Provincial Court on Sept. 15. Once it was finished, she was granted bail with conditions.
Grulich’s co-accused, Jason Ryan Dyck, remains in custody. He was also supposed to have a show-cause hearing on Sept. 15, but it didn’t proceed and he was remanded into custody.
Both are scheduled to be back in court Sept. 29.
Background: According to a news release, the Estevan Police Service (EPS) Drug Intelligence Unit arrested Dyck and Grulich Sept. 4 in connection with a drug-trafficking investigation. Both had their first appearance Sept. 8.
Dyck, age 44, is charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 and resisting arrest. According to the EPS and court information, he attempted to flee a member of the EPS.
Grulich, 45, has been charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 and possession of a prohibited weapon. According to statements in court, the weapon was a set of brass knuckles.
The EPS said a search warrant, authorized under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, was executed at a residence in the 400-block of Third Street. Police seized over $12,000 in cash, the prohibited weapon, and cocaine the EPS said has an estimated street value of $7,000.
Estevan police also thanked the public for their assistance in apprehending the male suspect.
