The Wellington Community Pasture, located about one hour south of Regina, was the fifth stop on the 620 CKRM Ranch Roundup.
Similar to the other visits, it was a cloudy and cool affair with the only difference being the fact it was windy. Some of the cattle were already sorted and ranchers were taking a break when we arrived, so good timing on our part to bring coffee and donuts.
Another notable thing during our visit was before we left, we watched them sort the cows. Right away a calf got its head stuck in between the metal fence but the guys managed to free it.
620 CKRM Ag News Director Ryan Young talked to the Manager of the Pasture, Cal Braaten about the season, how many head were on the pasture this year and what water quality and supply were like.
