ISLAND LAKE FIRST NATION – Loon Lake RCMP continue to ask the public to report sighting of wanted man Frederick Derocher.
On Sept. 20 at around 9 a.m., Loon Lake RCMP received a report of a firearm being discharged outside a residence on Island Lake First Nation (also known as Ministikwan).
Officers responded immediately. The investigation determined a suspect discharged a firearm at the residence and was observed driving away in a dark green GMC Yukon, possibly with a female passenger. No injuries were reported to police in relation to the firearm discharge.
As a result of the investigation, 31-year-old Frederick Derocher, from Island Lake First Nation, is charged with:
- one count, discharge firearm while being reckless;
- one count, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose; and
- one count, possession of weapon contrary to order.
A warrant has been issued for Derocher’s arrest. Loon Lake RCMP continue to work to locate him and ask members of the public to report sightings and information on his whereabouts.
Derocher remains wanted on previous charges including robbery with a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. These charges are in relation to an ongoing investigation from September 2025.
Derocher is described as approximately 5’10” and 165 lbs with black hair and brown eyes. A photo of him is shown.
