SWIFT CURRENT — A joint investigation between Saskatchewan RCMP and Alberta authorities has led to drug trafficking charges following a search in Swift Current.
On Oct. 21, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT) and the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) executed a search warrant at a residence in connection with an ongoing investigation.
Officers seized approximately 255 grams of cocaine, a large sum of cash, four mobile phones, brass knuckles, trafficking paraphernalia and 18 cartons of unstamped cigarettes.
A 32-year-old man from Edmonton was arrested on Central Avenue North in relation to the investigation.
He is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of unstamped tobacco.
The accused appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court on Oct. 22.
The investigation continues, with assistance from the Swift Current RCMP detachment.
