Parts of southwestern Saskatchewan could get an early blast of winter weather this weekend as a special weather statement has been issued.
Environment Canada says a disturbance tracking into the Pacific Northwest will create a surface low over Wyoming, which will develop snow over southern Alberta and southwestern Saskatchewan on Saturday.
Meteorologist Justin Shaer said right now it looks like many communities in the southwest could see accumulations of five to ten centimeters.
“So the Shaunavon region, over the Cypress Hills, Leader, Assiniboia and around Moose Jaw could all see significant snowfall,” Shaer said.
Shaer said Sunday night and early Monday morning the snow could creep further north and effect areas around Kindersley.
Highest accumulations are expected in Alberta over higher elevations, where totals could reach well over ten centimeters.
