REGINA — Frost Regina is expanding in 2026, with a new theme.
On Monday, the City of Regina announced that the festival will take place over three weekends, from Feb. 6-8, 13-16 and 20-22.
“We heard feedback last year from lots of people who wished they could have made it to Frost (2025). It was only one weekend last year, and we thought, well, we can fix that. Let's make it multiple weekends,” said Jennifer Johnson, deputy city manager for communications, Service Regina and tourism.
Next year’s Frost will focus on an Olympic theme as the multi-sport event will be taking place at the same time in Italy.
“We thought if we could theme that a little bit, you know, help generate Canadian pride, we can be talking Olympics, we can be talking Team Canada and enjoying our city in the winter. It's sort of a perfect pairing,” said Johnson.
Part of the Olympic theme will include first-time games around the concourse at Mosaic Stadium.
Also included in Frost 2026 are musicals from the Globe Theatre, skating and carriage rides at Wascana Centre, brunches offered at Conexus Arts Centre, skating in Victoria Park and the downtown plaza, and the winter hop circuit returning to the Warehouse District.
One major event not returning from Frost 2025 is 'The Grind,' a premier street-style snowboarding series.
Johnson said the event is difficult to weatherproof, so the city is taking a year away from it.
“We may or may not bring it back, I'm not sure. We'll see what the community says, we'll see what kind of feedback we get.”
Frost Regina first began in 2022 as a 10-day event, but it has been shortened in recent years, with 2025 only lasting four days.
Johnson said people in the city are still excited for Frost, and the expanded dates will increase attendance.
More details on events will be announced closer to the festival.
