REGINA — As the Saskatchewan Roughriders are set to take on the BC Lions in the Western Final, the Regina Police Service (RPS) is reminding the public of road closures.
Starting at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, vehicle access will be limited to local residents and transit on the 1500, 1600, and 1700 blocks of Elphinstone Street.
The RPS is also asking motorists and pedestrians to follow directions and be courteous to fellow road users.
People attending the game are encouraged to find a safe way to arrive and depart, and drivers are asked not to drive while under the influence. Traffic stops will be conducted by the RPS Traffic Safety Unit, which includes mandatory alcohol screening.
Additionally, the RPS is reminding the public to lock vehicles and remove or secure valuables. This comes as the police service reported 92 thefts from vehicles in October, with nearly 50 per cent of those involving unlocked vehicles where wallets, laptops, passports and cell phones were stolen.
There have also been six vehicles stolen while running and unlocked, four of which occurred since Oct. 20.
