PRINCE ALBERT — RCMP are investigating a series of armed robberies that occurred on the afternoon of Nov. 7, culminating in a search for a male suspect who may be injured.
According to Prince Albert RCMP, they received multiple reports of robberies in progress around 4:30 p.m. on Whitefield Road near the Wahpeton Dakota First Nation.
An initial investigation found that a vehicle was being driven erratically and at a high speed before it lost control and struck a power pole.
Following the collision, the male suspect, armed with a firearm, then attempted to steal three separate vehicles that weren’t involved in the initial crash, say police.
During an altercation with the suspect, one of those targeted vehicles left the road and went into a slough.
The occupant of a third vehicle got out after the suspect fired a shot into the air. The suspect then took that vehicle and fled the scene. The stolen vehicle was later located abandoned in Prince Albert by the Prince Albert Police Service.
Police say the suspect may have been injured in the initial collision with the power pole. He is believed to have a facial tattoo.
Police are working to locate him and confirm his wellbeing.
