SASKATOON — A Calgary man accused in the death of Timothy Tootoosis made his first court appearance in Saskatoon on Wednesday, facing multiple charges including first-degree murder.
Donovan Wiebe Lemstra, 41, appeared via CCTV from the Saskatoon Remand Centre, seated in a wheelchair.
He is also charged with offering an indignity to human remains and unlawfully confinement.
Court documents show that the charges were formally laid on Nov. 3. Lemstra was remanded in custody and is scheduled to return to court on Nov. 28.
On Dec. 18, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Saskatoon Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit and Tactical Support Unit were executing a search warrant at a home in the Pleasant Hill neighbourhood of the city, in 1700 block of 22nd West, when they found a man dead.
