MEADOW LAKE — Meadow Lake Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan (CTSS) have charged three individuals after cocaine destined for Witchekan Lake was found during a seatbelt traffic stop on Highway 55.
On Nov. 1, Meadow Lake CTSS stopped a vehicle on Highway 55, east of Meadow Lake, after noticing a passenger of the vehicle was not wearing their seatbelt.
After examining information on the three occupants of the vehicle, the Meadow Lake CTSS police officer informed the occupants they were detained at the scene for the purpose of a drug investigation.
The Meadow Lake CTSS police officer searched the occupants of the vehicle and located suspected illegal drugs and packaging consistent with drug trafficking. All three occupants were arrested.
The police officer then searched the vehicle and located 54 grams of suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia, one scale, three cellphones, several baggies and one metal collapsible baton.
Meadow Lake RCMP assisted the CTSS police officer at the scene.
As a result of the continued investigation, all occupants of the vehicle were charged with criminal offences.
A 40-year-old man, from McCreary, Man., is charged with:
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking;
- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and
- one count, possession of a prohibited weapon.
A 34-year-old man, from Witchekan Lake First Nation, is charged with:
- three counts, possession of weapon contrary to order;
- two counts, failure to comply with an undertaking condition;
- one count, identification fraud;
- one count, obstructing a police officer.
A 44-yesr-old suspect, from Witchekan Lake First Nation, is charged with:
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The three accused are scheduled to appear in court in Meadow Lake on Jan. 5, 2026.
